Introduction NVC Position Paper ‘Packaging for e-commerce’ at Webwinkel Vakdagen 2015
On Wednesday January 21st, 2015 NVC will publish the Dutch translation of its international Position Paper addressing packaging for e-commerce. This will be done in a lecture about the global e-commerce developments during the Webwinkel Vakdagen 2015 in Utrecht (The Netherlands) at 1.30 PM that day. The NVC Postion Paper is based on consultation of and discussion in the NVC International Working Group WRP. The major retailers in e-commerce in Europe are part of this NVC working group.
E-commerce is growing rapidly and the activity of packaging is an essential factor for its continuing success in the future. Packaging in the context of e-commerce is named Web Retail Packaging (WRP).
In conventional retail, the customer is responsible for the order picking (the activity formerly known as 'shopping'). In e-commerce the physical transport by the customer is not needed anymore and many new customer-friendly opportunities arise. The current packaging solutions in e-commerce, however, are stil mainly based on the conventional retail paradigms. This creates a fundamental threat for retail and packaging, as e-commerce is growing rapidly. Will insufficient packaging in e-commerce be the next Inconvenient Truth? Come to Utrecht as well on January 21st and share your ideas!
